Hi everybody…on this episode we’re going to continue our retrospective look at the life, legacy and music of Christian Music veteran Paul Clark.

On Part One a few weeks ago, we covered the first 5 years of Paul’s career starting from 1970 thru 1975. On Episode #170 we’ll focus on what he was up to from 1976 thru 1983.

With Paul’s propensity to explore new music genres he set his plow into the rich soil of his childhood R&B roots. Moving his compositional skills away from guitar and to the piano for farming the new Jazz/R&B sound field…joining forces with fellow Kansas City native and guitarist, Curt Bartlett, and Oklahoma-City musicians Hadley Hockensmith on guitar and bass, Harlan Rogers on keyboards, Lanny Hansen on drums, and Jim Hochanadel on saxophone. Paul had met Hadley, Harlan and Bill Maxwell, years earlier in Oklahoma City, as the 3rd Street Rhythm and Blues Band and later they formed the jazz group Koinonia.

Paul stopped by the JESUS SOLID ROCK studios in Nashville recently and we had a long chat to catch up.  Grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit back…I think you’ll enjoy the music and the conversation.

What a treat to be able to share a great conversation that I had with John Elefante former lead singer from Kansas in 1983 and then his own band Mastedon. John has been  involved in the Christian music business for over 30 years. Singer, songwriter, performer, producer, studio engineer and label founder…John has done it  all.

Along with his personal comments  on his contribution to the sound of Contemporary Christian Music, John is  probably best known as one half, along with his brother Dino, of the production  team for the group Petra from 1985 to the year 2000 for a total of 13 albums!

I love the changing of seasons, don’t you?  The turning of the leaves, cooler weather…trout fishing! (I just returned from the White River in Arkansas….a Father/Son fishing trip…and my birthday is this weekend!!  I am a blessed man for sure. I’ve been listening to your entire catalog of Full Circle shows, and I just had to write to tell you how much I love this show.  I will be totally honest with you:  I listen to a lot of podcasts and radio shows. And, if I could place all of the other podcasts and radio shows that I like on one hand, and place Full Circle on the other, and I had to choose between the two, . . . yes, I would take Full Circle over ALL the others, combined!  Your show is uplifting, inspirational, Biblical, and you play my favorite kind of music, too!  Who could ask for more?

Jerry, I want to especially thank you for playing Amy Grant, Bob Dylan, B.J. Thomas and others who have been spurned by a large portion of the Church.  We are all human, and no matter what these folks have done, they recorded some truly inspirational music.  I still remember being moved by Amy’s “In a Little While” BEFORE I ever even knew the Lord!

Thanks again for all that you do.  You are a true minister of God’s Word and His agape (His unconditional love).  Please keep up the good work, faithful servant!
