Episode #158 Features The Legendary Paul Clark

Some of you are asking for another Episode of FULL CIRCLE and I am delighted to share an interview with an old friend, Mr. Paul Clark.  Paul was one of the first artists I booked through at the UPPER ROOM COFFEE HOUSE in Carbonale, IL…back in the early 70’s.

Actually, Paul is a serious legend…an inspired songwriter and musician who has spent the last 40 years proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through the art of progressive music and photography.  He’s true pioneer of Jesus music…a founding father of the Jesus movement and the Contemporary Christian Music industry.

I’ll play some of the classic songs from Songs For The Savior, Vol 1 and Vol 2…and we’ll reminisce about how it all got started, way back when.  Go to the Playlist button and give it a listen!

Episode #157 -The Hits Of 1981

Hi Everybody.  On Episode #157 we’re gonna take a look back at the chart toppers from the year 1981. Those of you familiar with our format we tend to go into the background surrounding  of the various songs and artists featured on each show.

But I figured that since on a recent show where we featured special guest Terry Taylor…we had only 7 songs…that I’d would forgo the details on this episode and just play the music that was on the airwaves back in 1981.

We’ll be hearing from the likes of the 2nd Chapter of Acts, Amy Grant, Wayne Watson. As well as Leon Patillo, Seawind, Scott Wesley Brown, and 50’s icon Dion DiMucci.

URGENT REQUEST

If you have read this far I am making an urgent request just this one time.  We have literally hundreds of folks on our mailing list who enjoy Full Circle.  I need your help.  I absolutely must have a major breakthrough with finances this month. There simply is nothing else that I can say or do.  Thanks and keep us in prayer.

Episode #156 With Special Guest Terry Taylor

On this episode we have a very special guest Mr Terry Scott Taylor. Terry is the founding member of one of the most eclectic Christian bands around who have gone through more musical metamorphoses than any band I know of. That includes secular as well as Christian.  Of course I’m speaking of Daniel Amos. No that’s not the name of someone; rather it’s an amalgamation of two radical Old Testament prophets who spoke out boldly despite fierce opposition from the people of their day.

The band started out as a country rock outfit morphing into Beatlesque rock, new wave, alternative rock and just plane silly stuff thrown in for fun. Terry also found the time to form two side bands…The Swirling Eddies in 1988 and The Lost Dogs in 1992 as well as some solo efforts and producing other bands as well. Today all 3 configurations still exist whenever Terry has the mind to round up the various members of the groups and record or tour.

Recently Terry went through an extreme financial difficulty, which you may be aware of since I sent a note to everyone who is part of the FULL CIRCLE JESUS MUSIC Facebook group.  If you haven’t joined…please consider doing so.  Bob Bennett wrote….”Jerry … thanks so much for your heads-up on Terry Taylor. Taking care of the “Jesus Music” Community like this says a lot about you and your integrity as a brother-in-the-Faith and a lifelong supporter of us cranky musician types.”

Bob has just written to say that so far Terry’s friends have raised $25,000.  Praise God!  I’m so glad that FULL CIRCLE could be part of getting the word out to the “Jesus Music” community.  I have had many; many join the FULL CIRCLE Facebook page lately!!  Thanks!  Just keep this show in prayer as our financial support has dropped considerably as well and we are having long delays between programs.

Blessings!!  Enjoy Episode #156!

Remembering Upon This Rock On Episode #155

On Feb 24, 2008, Jesus music pioneer Larry Norman passed away.  Many called him the Father of Christian Rock and during his career and according to Wikipedia he recorded and produced over 100 records.

In 1969 Norman recorded Upon This Rock, “the first commercially released Jesus rock album”.  On Episode #155, we’ll remember this landmark project and feature some of those unforgettable songs, classics like You Can’t Take Away The Lord, Ha Ha World, Nothing Really Changes and the memorable Sweet, Sweet Song Of Salvation.

Since Norman’s first professional release, more than 100 of his own albums have been released through such commercial record labels as Capitol, MGM, Verve and his own independent labels:  One Way Records, Solid Rock Records, Street Level Records and Phydeaux Records.

A Timely Word of Encouragment

Hey everyone, when a few weeks go by without a posting or a new show…it’s just an indicator of how slow things are here at FULL CIRCLE.  But, I don’t want to dry up and blow away and so this letter this week…came at the right time!!

Thanks Jerry for a great show. It really inspires me. I realized, while skimming ITUNES, that your show is a real bargain. If, everyone who was going to spend $10 for an ITUNES album were to send that money to Full Circle Jesus Music, they would get an album’s worth of great songs and some good sound teaching and testimony.

Well, I’m off to your site to send some money for a wonderful show.  Again, Thanks.

Shane                                                                                                                                                    Cross Plains, Wisc.

Thanks Shane for your encouragement and believing in what we want FULL CIRCLE to be…and inspiration.  Hang on, we’re working on a show with a lot of your early Jesus music favorites.

Bill Gets It…He Understands Why I Do Full Circle!

Recently, I received this note from a listener….encouraging me to continue on with FULL CIRCLE.  He gets it!  He understands why I continue to do the show!  Thanks so much!!

He wrote:  “I just want you to know that I appreciate F/C so much and enjoy not only the current episodes but past shows also.

I’ll never forget when I was first exposed to Jesus Music back in the ’70s when my cousin gave me a cassette of Love Song.  I listened to it over and over.  I soon fell in love with 2nd Chapter, Barry McGuire, Phil Keaggy, Lamb, and all of the Maranatha!, Myrrh, Word, and Sparrow recordings.

There is a distinct difference in the message and tone of those days.  They weren’t afraid of the name “Jesus” in their lyrics and the music was so much more of a cheerful tone.

God bless you, Bro. Jerry!   Paypal has 50 bucks coming your way.  Wish I could do more!”

Songs From The Road, Episode #153

On this episode will be checking out some ROAD tunes. By that I mean songs that deal with the topic of walking on the narrow road with Jesus that leads to life.

We’ll be hearing from many of the artist who favored a country Jesus music style such as early Daniel Amos, Bruce Carroll, Ed Raetzloff, and Mark Heard. You’ll also get a taste of some better known artists like Larry Norman and Keith Green.

I’ve received so many, many emails from folks like you tell me “Jerry, we love the show”  “God bless you…keep up the good work”

Those letters are encouraging to say the least.  Only one thing that can make this happen though.  God using folks like you to partner with me.  I never have liked talking about finances…but real facts are that costs are incurred…so maybe you are someone God wants to use to support this ministry…and whether one time or often, a small gift or large…it all matters…really it does!

There’s a paypal button at this website, a snail mail address…and of course a lot of other stuff…check it out!

Nuff said.
